Internet Security Camera in the Electronic
Age
With the
internet, it has now become possible for your average joe to find
and purchase the weirdest things online. Among other things found
on the internet, security cameras are available cheaply, making it
easier for anyone to purchase and install them. But how effective
are these internet security cameras?
They can, in fact, be very effective; reputable
companies selling their products online as well as in a brick and
mortar store. Sometimes the internet security camera is a real,
working camera that actually records data; other times it may be a
dummy camera, clearly labeled as such, meant to fool casual
criminals into thinking that the premises are under surveillance.
As with anything else, caveat emptor--let the buyer beware--when
shopping online. Some companies sell used internet security
cameras, perhaps in working order, but often on their last legs, as
new ones. Others may advertise security cameras at remarkable
prices--but convenently neglect to mention anywhere on the site
that they are, in fact, dummy cameras, and not the real thing.
As with anything else online, use caution and
common sense when purchasing internet security cameras. Don't
simply purchase the first one you find; 'shop around' and compare
prices. Discover an average price range for cameras, and look in
the lower middle end of the range. This will give you a better buy,
and a better idea of what a good camera really goes for, than
simply purchasing the first ridiculously low priced internet
security camera you come across.
Know the names of companies that are reputable
and offer good quality cameras, and purchase from them if at all
possible. But don't be fooled by 'closeout' sales claiming to have
these reputable cameras at amazingly low prices. You are far,
far more likely to get burned if you go for the lowest prices than
if you select something somewhere in the middle ranges.
