Skylights: Fascinating and Practical

skylight image My son was always fascinated by contemporary homes when he was growing up. As I was working in real estate, he had the opportunity to see many homes in and around Atlanta, GA. He loved the angles and the soaring ceilings. Most of all, he always noticed the skylights. When we visited friends who had a large skylight in their master bath, he would go into the room at night and turn off the lights to see the night sky through the view of the skylight. If we were in a home that had a skylight...my son would be standing there looking at it.

He still does that in his own home - with six skylights! My daughter-in-law told me that when they first looked at the home, she was looking at the kitchen and the carpets and the room sizes -- and my son was going room to room checking out the skylights. They bought the house the same day they first saw it for sale.

I love visiting there becasue of the amount of light in the home. No matter what time of day it is, their home is full of daylight except on the cloudiest days. Because the home sits atop a hill the over-sized windows in the walls have a view into the treetops on the hill - and the skylights show only the sky. My son calls it the treehouse and says he always wanted to live in one.
