The Advantages of the Portable Swamp Cooler
Unlike what it
may sound like, a portable swamp cooler is in fact a type of air
conditioning unit. This type of air conditioner system works well
in areas with low humidity. For example, if you live in New Mexico,
Texas or Arizona, you are in the perfect climate to invest in a
portable swamp cooler. If on the other hand you are in New York or
Massachusetts, this kind of air conditioner is not suitable for
your climate. You could use it for those dryer days, but during
high-humidity days, it would let you down.
A portable swamp cooler works using the
principle of evaporative cooling. They are considered to be more
efficient in their power usage than standard air conditioning
systems. They work quite simply by cooling the air as the water
evaporates. It is done by pulling air into pads on the inside
called soak pads. These pads are covered with water; a fan then
pulls this outside air in. It is then pushed back into the
room as cooler air. It won’t overflow because it has a device in
it, not unlike what you use in your toilet, to regulate how high
the water gets.
A portable swamp cooler uses very little power,
frequently no more than one hundred watts. They are very efficient
and can cool the room they are in by ten degrees or more. They also
cost much less than standard air conditioners.
The portable swamp cooler acts much like our
bodies do on hot days. When a person is very hot they sweat. This
perspiration eventually evaporates which cools our bodies. Try
wearing a wet t-shirt and stand in front of a fan. That is more or
less the premise of how the portable swamp cooler works. It will
cool you down using the water in the air.
Because these units are so cost effective they
are becoming used more commonly. Churches, dog kennels, workshops,
garages and really anywhere that has the right climate are using
them now. They are sized by the airflow used on a cubic foot per
minute basis. To get the right size machine you will need guidance
form the seller.
